In this first blog I’ll bring you up-to-date with the story of 24 Royal Terrace.
For those of you who aren’t too familiar with us; in late September 2014 Alan Campbell (a veteran businessman with an accounting background – little did he know what he was in for!) bought Ailsa Craig Hotel with the intention to entirely refurbish the hotel and open as a luxury boutique hotel. Ten months and millions of pounds later, the doors opened to the public as 24 Royal Terrace.
Opening on July 15th 2015, and in the midst of Edinburgh’s busiest season, time flew by as The Fringe Festival approached and the bookings poured in. Since then the hotel has been a hive of activity, as we’ve tweaked and polished the operational side of the business and have slowly built awareness of our beautiful hotel.
We’d like to extend our huge thanks to all of our guests; past, present, regular, and those yet to arrive, as without you and your comments, feedback and ideas we wouldn’t have been able to make the hotel what it is today. We still have work to do to add those extra touches, but our team are getting there!
It’s been more than six months of highs – such positive feedback and reviews on booking.com, Facebook and Tripadvisor as well as from our guests when departing – and the odd low – the unfortunate water-leak of late October with a full hotel; we luckily managed to resolve this as quickly as possible and avoid any permanent damage, including saving Bellany’s ‘Sea Maiden’ (the irony……).
We’ve got a full year to look forward to as well as many, many exciting projects and ideas currently in the pipeline, and throughout it we look forward to welcoming some familiar faces as well as many new.
